29th December 2007 – The 2007 Care & Share Humanitarian Award for the best social worker was presented to Mr. K. M. Noordeen by retired Supreme Court Justice Ms.Fathima Beevi at Sahitya Academy Hall in Thrissur, Kerala. Mr. Noordeen is the founder and chairman of Alpha Pain Clinic in Edamuttam, Thrissur which began in 2005, providing homecare to bed-ridden patients as well as those with incurable diseases. In 2006, it expanded its operations to include day care and in-patient facilities. In a short span of 30 months, the Alpha Pain Clinic has registered about 1000 patients, out of which 400 are currently availing of its services. Alpha Pain Clinic today is one of the largest home-based palliative care providers in India.
